Just picked up a new 2012 F-150 XLT 4x4 I am itching to see how it tows a 3500 lb. boat but it will be a few weeks until I get the opportunity to do so.
How dose the 3.7 compare to a small v-8 when towing?

The new 3.7L has just about the same horsepower but a little bit less torque than the old 5.4Ls and the 4R70W trannies. I hear that if you step on it, it has to downshift twice to get going but I'm sure it has some towing or OD off button to lockout that top end so you can get some torque down low. I pull a 2,700# popup with four adults, bed full of luggage and a full tank of gas with my puny 210hp 4.2L V6 so I think you will be just fine.

Ill say this I had rented a 2011 super crew with the 3.7 and was SUPER impressed with the Hp and tq. Don't have any doubt it'll tow the 3500 lbs or whatever without issue like it ain't even there
