Anyone here as hooked on fishing as I am? Thought this might be an interesting off-topic thread for those who share a similar interest.

I'm not but I'll leave this here my 30 year old big brother has 2-3 poles in his Explorer at all times if that says anything.. Along with a fishing lure on the back bumper ( it's been there for 2 years and have yet to come off on the highway )

i do the same thing. always have a rod or two in the truck
I love to fish!! Plus I'm really good at drinking beer and the two go hand in hand. My boy and I go once or twice a week when it's warm out, but shut it down once it starts freezing at night.
If the women don't find ya handsome, they should at least find ya handy
Love to fish!!!!!
5Star tuned.....
Fishing is lame until you can drive your vehicle out on the lake. Then it gets fun. Plus, the beer never gets warm.
It's a lil different around here. I've never had any luck with anything once it's consistently below 45 or so. Also have to take into consideration that my boy is only 3 so I try not to have him out in the cold for too long. When he gets older we'll be out there, but for now we'll only go in the warm months.

When the ice is thick enough, you can park fully loaded semi's on it. A passenger vehicle is not a problem. When roads get plowed out on the lakes, the ice freezes even deeper because it loses the insulation that snow provides. I have been to many an ice fishing contest that had multiple semi's parked out on a lake. 24" of ice will easily hold any passenger vehicle, and we will have that by mid-January.
It is still possible to drop one through (underwater springs, current in channels between lakes, ect), but in the dead of Winter, it is highly unlikely. Usually we will see fools drop their vehicles in the lakes in the Fall and the Spring when the ice just isn't strong/deep enough.
As for the ice fishing part.....fun as Hell. Throw down a couple of tip-ups, and play around with snowmobiles, atv's, or fire-up the sat dish and watch some football out on the lake.
